Home A drawing workshop to share and explore feelings about your home through a range of activities. The interactive exhibition – the memory bank This exhibition is focusing on the interactive process between art works and audience, exploring the question - If you could only keep one memory about Sheffield what would it be? What Do You See?- A play about residential care
"What Do You See?”  is the story of how Marshall Joan’s Care Home is transformed from a failing, unhappy, stress-filled environment to one of success with a culture that cares. Following the later stages of dementia, it looks at the importance of life histories within person centred care, challenges taboos around death and shows the possibility of choice and the empowerment advance care planning brings.  A “theatrical feast” which aims to impact positive change.  Described as “powerful” “realistic” and “incredibly funny”. Where Bombs Fell: A Design Week Talk
Why does Sheffield look the way it does? What have been the drivers for the design and re-design of the city? This short talk looks at the role of design in shaping Sheffield through the lens of a design project developed in the graphic design department within Sheffield Institute of Arts ('Where Bombs Fell'). The talk takes place in the Head Post Office building on Fitzalan Square and will give an overview of the project and its future intentions. At the centre of the talk is a 1942 wartime public information film, set in Sheffield and scripted by Dylan Thomas, called 'New Towns for Old'. Like many other propaganda films at this time, New Towns for Old intended to assure audiences that the work done to improve British housing in the 1930s was continuing despite the war. Sheffield, battle-scarred and laden with slums, is re-imagined here as 'Smokedale' - an industrial Everytown where planners are working to clear decrepit and bomb-damaged back-to-backs and maintain a green belt around the city. Richard Thompson plus special guests Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker

Richard Thompson is one of this country's greatest songwriters and most distinctive guitar virtuosos, capable of breathtaking drama and sublime delicacy, prompting Rolling Stone to hail him as “a perennial dark-horse contender for the title of greatest living rock guitarist.” His songs have been covered by everyone from Alison Krauss to Robert Plant.

Over the summer, he'll be releasing a second Acoustic Classics album on Proper, coupled with Acoustic Rarities - and he'll draw his set from all these albums and much more besides.  He has chosen the Award-winning duo Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker, recently signed to Rough Trade records, as his special guests on the tour

"Richard Thompson put on a show of mercurial mood swings and consistent brilliance – it was a show of pure magic from start to finish.’ - The Times

"Richard Thompson is an extraordinary guitar player, probably the best this country has produced, an utterly sui generis talent whose style is rooted not in standard blues clichés but in the wealth of influences coursing through the British Isles.' - The Independent
