Les Misérables Schools Edition

The epic tale of broken dreams, passion and redemption is set against a nation in the throes of revolution.

Winner of over 100 international awards and seen by over 65 million people worldwide, Les Misérables is an epic and uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit. Now adapted for high school performers, Les Misérables School Edition features one of the most memorable scores of all time and some of the most memorable characters to ever grace your stage.

In 19th century France, Jean Valjean is released from years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a life-long struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean's adopted daughter.

Epic, grand and uplifting, Les Misérables School Edition packs an emotional wallop that has thrilled audiences all over the world. The sung-through piece is ideal for a cast of exceptional singers and overflows with melodies that are already standards. This author-approved edition has been abridged to a running time of just over two hours, while carefully maintaining the integrity of one the greatest musicals ever written.

An Evening with Tommy Caldwell: A Climber’s Journey of Endurance, Risk, and Going Beyond Limits

Join free climbing legend Tommy Caldwell for a fascinating evening introducing his new memoir 'The Push: A Climber’s Journey of Endurance, Risk, and Going Beyond Limits'. Recounting his 19 day journey of extreme endurance battling up the sheer face of the Yosemite wall and the insurmountable courage it took to withstand being captured by violent extremists at gunpoint, this is a discussion that will surely prove just what strength can be mustered in times of intense adversity.

In 2015 Tommy Caldwell captivated the world when he and Kevin Jorgeson climbed the Dawn Wall, the forbidding 3,000-foot-high southwest face of El Capitan in California's Yosemite Valley. The astonishing ascent, hailed as 'the hardest climb of all time', was not the first time Tommy's determination and ambition saw him through moments of incredible survival. This was, in fact, a climb that represented the end of a difficult recovery from the trauma of being held hostage by rebels during an earlier climbing expedition in Kyrgyzstan.

Congratulated by President Obama for a feat he had previously been told he had no hope of achieving, don’t miss your chance to pose your question during the audience Q&A and hear directly from the man who made history by achieving the ‘impossible’.

Tommy will be signing and dedicating books after the event so stick around after the talk to meet him in person. All bookings include a copy of The Push (RRP £20) and will be available for collection on the night from the on-site bookshop.

Tickets for Tommy Caldwell (subject to booking fees) at Sheffield City Hall are available online at www.sheffieldcityhall.co.uk through the ticket hotline on 0114 2 789 789 and in person at the Sheffield City Hall Box Office.
